Our Opening Doors members enjoyed a sunny walk along the excellent wheelchair accessible paths in Harrogate’s Pinewoods last week.
Thanks to the fantastic work of the Pinewoods Conservation Group and their supporters, the paths have opened up the woods to people of all abilities. Our members enjoyed a stroll up to the viewpoint to take in the scenes across Nidderdale and beyond.
They were then treated to a fabulous afternoon tea courtesy of Covance at their on site Coffee Shop. The scones were a particular talking point!
Huge thanks to Lucy, Caroline and the brilliant facilities team at Covance who accompanied our members on the walk and made them feel so welcome. We look forward to more outings in partnership with Covance in the future… those scones are definitely worth a return visit!
The outing was just one of a series of events and activities our Opening Doors members can enjoy throughout the year. Our members are older people or those with a disability who struggle to get out and about on their own. As well as regular outings, members can benefit from the one to one support of a volunteer to help them get out to appointments, social engagements or for day to day activities such as going to the bank, post office and shops.
