Students and staff from Ashville College, Harrogate recently welcomed clients and volunteers from HELP’s Opening Doors service to the College. Guests were invited to afternoon tea, where they enjoyed music and dance recitals from the school’s students.

The guests, who are all either older or living with disability, enjoyed the opportunity to chat with the students over refreshments and were particularly impressed with students’musical talent.

The event was part of Ashville College’s ongoing commitment to support HELP, with both volunteering and fundraising events. As part of this support, two students regularly volunteer with the charity’s Help at Home service, where they lend a hand with practical painting and decorating for clients who can no longer manage these tasks themselves.

Christine Turner, HELP Service Co-ordinator said: “Many of our guests really enjoy the company of younger people so it was a real pleasure for them to have the opportunity to mingle with the students. We would like to thank everyone from Ashville College for hosting such a fantastic social occasion. “
