A sell out fundraising evening at the Sun Pavilions in association with HELP and the Pinewoods Conservation Group has raised nearly £1,700 for the two charities. More than 150 people enjoyed a Hog Roast, entertainment from community choir All Together Now and a performance by local singer/songwriter Mike Ozen.
The Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Nick and Linda Brown, joined guests to raise money for the two charities who are working in partnership to encourage older people to access the Pinewoods. Clients of HELP’s Opening Doors service will be visiting the Pinewoods in September to try out the new accessible paths which have been opened between the Valley Gardens and RHS Harlow Carr.
Proceeds from the ticket sales and a table raffle and Gift Tree on the evening will be split between the two charities. Neil Hind, Chair of the Pinewoods Conservation Group said: “This is the most money we have ever made at one event so we are delighted with how well it went. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and we would like to extend our thanks to Covance who supported the evening, All Together Now and Mike Ozen.”
Frances Elliot, HELP Manager, said: “Without the support of organisations such as Covance, we could never hope to host such a well-attended event so we really appreciate the opportunity to work with Lucy and the team, alongside the Pinewoods committee.”
The team at HELP were invited to join in All Together Now’s special rendition of The Beatle’s ‘HELP’ – complete with props! Enjoy the video!
