At this challenging time, we know many older and vulnerable people across the district are in need of support. For those of you without family, friends and neighbours to turn to, we want to reassure you that we are ‘Here to HELP’.
Our dedicated volunteers are working with us to offer the following support during the COVID-19 outbreak:
Food shopping and essential items – if you need help with getting in food supplies, we will ask a trusted and vetted volunteer to get them for you. We can also put you in touch with local suppliers who may be able to deliver to your door.
Prescription pick up – our trusted volunteers will collect your prescription from the pharmacist or doctor and deliver to your door.
Phone befriending – we can refer you to our partner organisations Supporting Older People and Boroughbridge Community Care for befriending support. Our team in Ripon can arrange for a volunteer to give you a regular call for a chat.
Information and signposting – to other sources of support in the community
Please note: our regular Driving Force service is currently suspended and will only be relaunched when we feel it is safe to do so.

Sign up as a Here to HELP volunteer
As Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads across the UK, it will be hard for people to maintain their social connections. Looking out for our neighbours has never been more important, and we can all do our bit to ensure that people who need a little extra help are not forgotten at this time – be they family, friends or neighbours.
If you’re over 18 years of age, healthy and at low-risk (see NHS guidelines ) you can now sign up to become a Here To Help Volunteer and help others in Harrogate or Ripon, with tasks such as urgent food shopping for the most vulnerable and providing back-up to local charities delivering vital services, as necessary.
Read more about how you can play your part and find out where to turn for safe and trusted support on the HADCA website.
