When you are living alone and in frail health or without a local support network, it can be the smaller things that pray on your mind. This can lead to worry and perhaps feelings of being unable to cope. Our volunteers support people with these everyday things that can help restore people’s confidence about continuing to live independently.

We are here to provide more than a ‘sticking plaster’ to relieve temporary problems. As well as practical help, we help people to remain connected with their local communities. Our volunteers offer much-valued social contact for people often experiencing feelings of loneliness. We are also here to listen and provide information about local sources of support.

During Covid-19, we have provided a trusted network of support to anyone in Harrogate and Ripon struggling whilst living at home. Our 250+ strong volunteer team offered support on both a practical and emotional level and our staff signposted people to additional sources of support locally.
