Help at Home is a gardening, decorating and basic repair service covering the whole of the Harrogate District. All tasks are carried out by a Support Worker alongside volunteers.
Priority is given to older people, those who are vulnerable and people with disabilities who can no longer manage to carry out the tasks themselves, have no family help and cannot afford a professional service.
If you fall into our priority groups we may be able to help you as follows:
- Gardening, general tidying up, lawn mowing, hedge cutting etc.
- Basic repairs & DIY tasks
- Odd jobs e.g. moving furniture, defrosting freezers, clearing out a shed
No job is too small for our team. However, our service does not extend to regular garden maintenance. Please note, the length of our waiting list varies but we will get to people as soon as we can.
The Help at Home service does not have a fixed charge, but we ask that you cover the cost of materials used if you can (e.g. paint) and we welcome donations. All donations are reinvested into the scheme to help with running costs, purchase equipment and volunteers’ expenses.
“The relief at seeing my garden transformed rather took me by surprise and has restored my faith and boosted my confidence.” Help at Home client, August 2015
