Even if you’ve just got a few hours to spare, there are lots of ways you can get involved with our project and make a difference to local people
One off opportunities
Fundraising – we regularly hold fundraising events, such as bag packing days and tea parties. This is a fun way to get involved on an ad hoc basis.
Are you a group of colleagues or friends who would like to help out for a few hours? Why not get a team of you together to help transform a garden, repaint someone’s home or organise a fundraising event. Many hands really do make light work.
Regular volunteering opportunities
There are lots of ways you can get involved at times to fit in with your busy schedules
Driving roles – Regular and adhoc driving roles are available for both our Ripon and Harrogate based voluntary car driving services. Our volunteer drivers offer door-to-door transport to passengers who would otherwise struggle to get to appointments, to make essential journeys and get to social activities. Volunteers are reimbursed directly by the client for expenses.
Befriending roles – do you enjoy other people’s company? Are you a good listener? Opportunities exist as voluntary befrienders with our Harrogate-based Opening Doors service and with our Ripon & Rural Wellbeing Service. As a voluntary befriender you will be providing much-needed social contact for people who may be at risk of social isolation.
Handyperson role – ideal for anyone who enjoys practical work. Our Help at Home volunteers get out and about across the District with the team doing a variety of jobs from gardening and decorating to odd jobs and a bit of DIY.
