A team of employees from Envirovent recently went out into the open air to do a morning’s gardening with the Help at Home team. The volunteers set to work digging, pruning and weeding to completely transform an elderly client’s garden from its overgrown state into a neat, manageable space.
The volunteering was organised as part of the Harrogate-based company’s ‘In It Together’ day, on which all 200 employees come together annually to assist with good causes across the Harrogate district. The six strong team comprised employees from both the Harrogate site and from other locations across the UK.
Team leader, John, said: “‘In It Together’ is one of our company’s cores values so it’s great to be able to put it into action by volunteering today. It has given us the opportunity to bring together colleagues from all different departments and locations for some team-building too, as well as to help such a worthy cause.”
The client had previously been victim to rogue traders in another area and was a little unsure about who to trust. She made contact with Help at Home, having heard that its a charity and the support workers are all police checked. She was particularly pleased at how quickly and efficiently the team set to work and will enjoy looking out onto the borders, now they are weed free and restored to their previous state.
