Who are the drivers?
Our volunteer drivers are over 18 and use their own vehicles. They are interviewed and references are obtained along with a Disclosure & Barring check.

Which areas do we cover?

We help people living in Ripon, Masham, Pateley Bridge and the surrounding villages to make local journeys. Longer journeys can be arranged subject to volunteer availability.

How much will it cost?
Our drivers give their time free but there is a mileage charge to cover fuel and to help towards the running costs of their vehicle. The mileage charge starts and ends at the volunteer’s home, covering all legs of the journey and is usually payable directly to the driver. There is also a £1 booking fee to help cover our administration expenses. Sometimes it is possible to get help with the cost of journeys to medical appointments. Please ask us for more information.

Peter Clarkson Mar 16 3How much notice do I need to give?
We ask for a minimum of two working days’ notice, preferably more, to allow us time to find an available volunteer driver.

How do I book a Volunteer Driver?
Get in touch with Malcolm Compton (Service Co-ordinator) when you need to arrange a trip. Malcolm will match your needs with the availability of a volunteer car driver.  You will always be told who to expect and the time of the driver’s arrival. The driver will take you to your destination and either wait for you or return to collect you and take you back home at the time you have requested.

To book a driver or for further information about the service please call on 01765 645907 or email requests@harcvs.org.uk
